It's about time that we all put in a claim against Microsoft to be compensated for the damage they cause.
I've had to borrow a keyboard until I can purchase a new one? But will that survive Microsoft's nect upgrade? The same problem happend to me.
Shift and ctrl keys were somehow mapped together. I tried the drivers and sticky keys but ultimatly it was actually the keyboard. I had a second wirless keyboard from another computer to pair and that one worked just fine. So I took the batteries out of the keyboard, took out the screws in the back and used a can of air to spray out all of the dust from the keyboard. Then i put it back together and the keyboard worked fine.
Are you still fuming chriselliss or did you eventually find a fix for this? I seem to have an idential problem after a Windows update and I feel it's too specififc to be a case of dust or debris behind both shift keys. I never did find a fix for this problem. I went through absolutely every suggestion given by hp all to no avail.
I'm now using an older keyboard which works fine - in fact all other keyboards I've tried work OK, it's just the one which was connected to the computer during the Windows update which has been affected. This is a laptop so connecting another keyboard to it is not really viable in my case. FWIW I resolved this myself. Choose "load defaults" and saved and exited.

And I thought it would do the fix as it detected a problem. But then I was wrong. And I tried troubleshooting the more specific keyboard device but no luck.
So about what you said about uninstalling the keyboard device, so then the option would still be there when reinstalling it just to be sure. So yes, all of them are off including the sticky keys which I joggle and test if my shift key would work. I visited the device manager and right-clicked the keyboard, but then there was no option to uninstall, but only to scan for hardware changes, and the other choice would be properties. I actually just realized that the keyboard needs to be further expanded, and so I was able to uninstall it and reinstall upon reset, and unfortunately the shift key remains not functioning.
Well, I did realize I should have tried the other steps and so I did so, and I believe I did them more than twice just to be sure. But I note though in the device manager, when further viewing the properties in the keyboard, that it shows in the events tab, about the migration of the driver occuring in 21may.
Although I felt this to be too early to say that it was the start of my ordeal, maybe the blocks were just being built. Let me just read through what you shared and see if I can reprogram any which I doubt hehe. Thanks in advance. This thread is locked.
