Under Source file choose browse and choose the mkv file with the dts track. You should now get some output that the mkv does have DTS Audio.

Select the option to Convert to Dolby Digital. This will give a smaller file. Click Run and you should get a progress window. Depending on file size and disk speeds, this should take about 30 mins to 1 hour to complete. This should now play on the WD TV.

The optical cable was the fix. Thks a million! I was completely bonkers trying to get the sound out!!! Luckily for dumb people like me …. Annoying as hell though. I ensured the audio was set to digital. Ensured the HTR was not muted. Re-booted several times more than 5. DTS sound my wd live tv plays dts sound just fine my hdtv sound does not like dts but my onkyo home theater system loves dts.

I can conclusively confirm that when playing virgin rip bluray titles on a computer using a HDMI video and audio output capable graphics card, a Samsung PS50C Plasma TV will passthrough digital audio to a 5.

When playing the same virgin rip bluray titles through the WDTV Live, some of the titles will passthrough digital audio and others will not.

The issue is with the bluray title menu structure. When an m2ts file is played outside the bluray title menu structure, the file structure copy protect stops the m2ts file audio playback.
