I had the same issue, but apparently the application I was trying to run came from another computer and was blocked. I did a right click on the application, checked the "Unblock" box and was able to successfully install the application. I have permissions and inherited controls , i am the only user and administrator , in the proper groups but still get denied access to install certain. I have already changed 2 other ex windows 7 computers to linux mint 17 and Avinash KumarPrasad.
