For anyone using Adguard for Windows to block ads and filter traffic, if you are experiencing this issue with https sites producing an invalid certificate error, you will discover that disabling that program allows https sites to load no problem. The fix is to 'reinstall certificate' in the Adguard settings.

Do that, and https pages will load normally. In this case, it was Adguard at fault. I can confirm that this is still an issue with Bitdefender free edition.

A new problem with BitDefender Free Edition has surfaced on a Windows 10 system one of my own - clean install. BitDefender blocks file associations of various windows, applications.

For example, if you locate CMD on the start menu and right click to run as administrator, it looks like windows is going to prompt for User Access Control approval, but instead this error appears:. After the error message is dismissed, the app does not open. Turn off BitDefender Free Edition, and no error appears - apps and various windows that would not open before begin opening normally - no problems. Turn BD back on, and error appears, system hamstrung. I've searched around for answers about that error with respect to BitDefender Free Edition, but have not come up with any working solution.

It's worth noting that this problem doesn't exist on every Windows machine, and the machine in question is a clean install, fully updated, with no other security apps other than BitDefender Free Edition.

The same machine did this before the clean install as well, so I have doubts this is a Windows problem vs a BD problem, especially considering turning off the BD protection setting consistently produces the same results.

As a long-time user and fan of BDFE, this problem eludes me to this day. I don't want to abandon BDFE unless it is somehow absolutely necessary. After spending a number of hours on this today, I found a solution.

Firstly I will point out that our version of Bitdefender was different. In our case it was Bitdefender Total Security Note that disabling Bitdefender one of the first things I tried did not fix this which sent me on a wild goose chase until I finally decided to totally uninstall Bitdefender and then all browsing including to all SSL pages started working again.

So I reinstalled and it stopped working. Problem definitely related to Bitdefender. One of the tips here said to turn off SSL Scanning but under my version, the option has been changed or renamed. Anyway, I did the following:. Your problem should now be resolved. This will now show a perpetual alert that you don't have that turned on but at least you can now browse the Internet and use Google Search. To continue this discussion, please ask a new question.

Go to Security and Maintenance, look in 'Security' and see what program is listed under Virus Protection. BitDefender should be listed if it is properly installed and registered to the Win 10 OS. Did you run the removal tools for any other security software AVG, McAfee, whatever that was previously used on the computer followed by a reboot? Try uninstalling your present version of BitDefender followed by a restart and also running the BitDefender Removal Software. Alternatively you can wait for a response to your question regarding BitDefender and Win 10 but we have no idea when you will receive a reply.

Was this reply helpful? So with Safe Mode off and the Wifi enabled, I downloaded and installed BitDefender back in, fully updated it and Windows, and then plugged the Ethernet cable back in. Now it doesn't crash, at all. I can no longer reproduce the BSOD whatsoever. My best guess is that something bad with BitDefender caused it to crash, such as some confliction with another program, and uninstalling and re-installing eliminated that.

But that doesn't explain the weird behavior of the Ethernet, and why it suddenly started working again. After 3. I attempted to recreate the same scenario I described in my last post: Disabled Netgear in various ways, unplugged Ethernet cable, disabled Wifi. Still crashed and within a matter of seconds now instead of minutes. Please tell me what is the error message this time, now that both Netgear and BitDefender are out of the equation.

If you ever get annoyed at all by my replies, maybe you can let me know how I can interpret these files myself so I can understand where the error messages are at.
