Is manual faster than automatic
So what is the benefit of driving a manual car? Many drivers who prefer it will tell you that it is simply more fun to drive and that you have more control over the gears. While this can be true in general, but in heavy stop-and-go traffic, a manual transmission can be a real nuisance.
Manual cars also go faster than an automatic. This can be fun, sure, but can also lead to more tickets and accidents. Manual transmissions are also a lot less complicated than automatics and are therefore less expensive to repair.
But easy to fix does not mean easy to learn. One downside to driving a manual is the learning curve. New drivers who are learning on a manual are susceptible to stalling and rollbacks, which can be dangerous. Another advantage of driving a manual vs automatic could be fuel economy. Manual cars, traditionally, get much better gas mileage than automatics. Most automatic cars built from and on get equal or even better mileage than a manual of the same model.
There are two other myths to address here. The first is that manual cars are less expensive. For one thing, manual cars are a lot harder to find. If you are determined to find a manual of a specific make and model, you may actually end up paying more. Another myth is about security. On the other hand, the gear changes automatically in an automatic car. Then, the gearbox will take a few seconds before moving to the downshift.
For this reason, the energy transfers from the engine to the driving wheel more smoothly and quickly. The time wasted for changing gears is minimal in these cars, especially in the newer models. Therefore, a car with an auto gearbox accelerates faster than a manual transmission.
You might be thinking that the swiftest car would be the one that does not have any gear at all. For this reason, the F1 cars are bound to have gears. After all, the drivers have to have some control over the wheels, right? As we know from the explanation above, manual transmission used to take drivers by storm but as time passed by, automatic transmission has overcome its technical drawbacks.
Nowadays, most car manufactures favors automatic transmission and even semi-automatic transmission for new lineup of future models. We all hold some unreasonable love for manual transmission partly because we mistake more exorbitant cars for higher performance. As the matter of fact, common cars use automatic transmission and hi-end cars such as sports cars use manual transmission. However, historical records of automatic transmission developments have proved the other way.
In the past, automatic transmission mechanism used a fluid torque converter. It was this old convert that was inefficient and thus made the gear shift in automatic cars prevent effective acceleration.
Moreover, past automatic models had only gears compared to manual ones with gears of transmission. In the present, modern torque sensor detects the roughly same spinning speed between impellers and the turbine or it can detect the stabilizing torque output. TCS may be a little faster when you get into hard to control cars is high classes but I still don't use it.
Forza has always been like this. That is the challenge and very rewarding when you are able to do that. Just takes practice. It is pretty much universal once you learn it for any racing game. Maybe I'm looking at it the wrong way then because I don't personally see auto as being an assist, my real car has DCT which can shift much more efficiently than I can using the paddles I still don't agree with how much of an advantage it gives but obviously that's not up for debate. I dunno, I personally don't think an arcade style game should give a passive advantage to things like that but if that's what it is then that's what it is.
Cheers for the post. Forza 7 is the same with this. Those are real sims AC and Iracing, so they are more realistic than any Forza games. Forza doesn't care much what the actual car has for gear changing. I'm sure some of these cars don't even come in manual but that isn't what they are trying to replicate.

I agree, the reward should be in-game currency or points IMO though, not an arbitrary artificial performance boost to the car. It feels clumsy and false shifting gears on a controller but so be it. To be fair very few will notice it but still. Well learn manual and you will be rewarded. Really not hard once you get the hang of it. You guys are turning off half the game and the fun of driving. You will be faster and actually have control of your car. Originally Posted by: leetorts Learn manual first than step up to manual with clutch and get even more out of it. The issue is that it shouldn't be faster in straight line speed, the rest of the manual benefits are acknowledged, accepted and understood. You hit the nail on the head with pointing out that the auto-box shifts earlier, that appears to be the crux of the issue. I don't agree that this should happen, that's the point I was getting at and highlighting in the pointless hope that it gets on somebodies radar but beyond that, happy to just leave it there and move on. Forza Horizon is suppose to be more arcade like, having manual faster than automatic is pretty silly on this game. Which are faster than manual now. Using manual on a controller is silly too, if you have a proper setup, that is best I would never bother learning manual when I'm always using a controller. Dan Greenawalt has stated this directly in podcasts leading up to Forza Motorsport 7 s launch. I recently started to use manual. Next and the last assist off will be ABS, i just couldnt get the hang of it, might need to fine tune the trigger settings a bit.
I must say manual is more fun. Its easier to forget shifting at all and let the AI do the job for you, but manual is better because you are more in control. More control means better lap times, therefore the advantage against other players who use assist is greater.
It sparked my interest towards the game a bit, as i noticed i played less and less every day. Okay, so it sounds pretty gamey, and apparently applies to Horizon as well as Motorsport at least to some extent.
Not sure how much I like the idea of being able to shift faster than a guy sitting in a car working the pedals and stick could, if that's the way it works.
